Hi everyone,
I live outside India now, and sometimes I feel confused about how to raise my kids. At home we speak English mostly because of school, but I want them to also know our mother tongue. I want them to respect elders, understand festivals, and know our traditions.
But at the same time, they are growing up in a different country with different culture. Sometimes they feel shy to speak our language outside. Sometimes they question why we follow certain customs.
I don’t want to force them. I also don’t want them to forget who they are.
How are other parents managing this?- Do you speak only your native language at home?
- How do you teach them about Indian festivals and values?
-
Do your kids feel “different” from others?
Would really love to hear your experiences. 😊
